A great year was ended in full speed
As an expat survival instructor working in Japan I am bracing for surprises almost every day. Today I brought a new diary book and when I opened it surprise: the diary is starting with April! Actually in Japan the work and fiscal year is starting on 1st of April.
And this fact is making our last two weeks of March so important: because we had an end of year so intense… It was a good year finalized with a very busy and rewarding end of March. We had a an interesting mix of an OPITO sanctioned HUET course with an additional day of special ditching training for helicopter personnel, we had a BOSIET for Oil&Gas workers, we had our new ClassNK sanctioned STCW FPFF (Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting) course for seaman. Different courses for different demands.
And we did also something else, together, all the team, with a serious fun, we had the annual maintenance of our state of art METS HUET simulator. Disassembled to the last screw, cleaned up, verified, reassembled and tested.
The simulator is entering now in its seventh year of exploitation but is looking exquisitely new. A contractor with experience in HUET simulators has asked us not long ago: “are you actually using this simulator?!?” Only we know how much punishment our guy can bare.
