Visit of Fukuoka Prefecture Fire Academy
Today, 38 students and 3 instructors from Fukuoka Prefecture Fire Academy, who are participating in the water rescue training program, came to tour NSTC.
During the visit, in addition to a tour of NSTC facilities, we offered a lecture on diving and an experience of recompression chamber operation as a part of their education program.
Lecture
Chamber Operation Experience
In the lecture, under the theme of “Diving Accidents and Near-misses,”we talked about safety management and what we should pay attention to, including discussing actual cases.
In the experience of recompression chamber operation, the participants had an opportunity to experience working as an operator and recorder/communicator, and to see what happens in a recompression chamber (under a high-pressure environment of 40 m depth).
The students who participated are going to work as divers in the severe field, and we hope that this experience was useful in their future.
We, NSTC staff, also have a lot to gain and be stimulated by having contact with the people who are working at the site.
